A view of the southeast corner of 20th Street and Fourth Avenue (now Park Avenue South) in 1892. This was the All Souls Unitarian Church, a.k.a. the Church of the Holy Zebra, a.k.a. the Beefsteak Church, designed by Jacob Wrey Mould. Among its members were Peter Cooper and Herman Melville.

Can you identify our Players building on the treeless block? Also, what popular late-night eatery occupies this spot today?

Great photo Michael! I will think of All Souls Unitarian Church (1982), as I have a lunch & wine at L'Express, which is there now.

Question - is the All Souls Unitarian Church at this place, the same one that eventually located at Lexington Ave. & 80th Street.?
